The surf conditions in Tasmania are excellent for beginners and also offer lots of uncrowded breaks with clean beautiful waves. Not far from the main city of Hobart,Park and Clifton Beaches are the favourite surfing spots. Clifton beach is possibly one of Hobart's most popular surfing beaches however there is an abundance of different surf breaks, all the way up the East Coast from Orford to Bicheno.
To the south, Bruny Island's Cloudy Bay faces the wide Southern Ocean - which means the wind brings in some really big waves. Like anywhere else in Southern Australia, the water conditions are chilly, so again, suit up, you'll need it!
For an adventure, try to find South Cape Bay . It is a 7 kilometre walk through the World Heritage listed National Park. Local surfers will carry boards and surf gear through the 7km bush track just to reach this isolated beach. So the waves must be good!
